Seeing Nuclear In Different Perspectives

Debby Rahmi Isnaeni
The World Trade Center attacks on September 11th 2001 have realized many countries for facing the threat of nuclear terrorism. Osama bin Laden is a named that was accused  being  the mastermind of the recent terrorist attack. He worked  with his group, Al-Qaeda. People believed that he was made some big nuclear reactor for maximum effect . It is also clear that bin Laden and their team were seeking nuclear explosive materials  and know-how for building atomic bombs, and other dangerous nuclear materials for use in to spread radioactive contamination with conventional high explosives. People guessed that he was made that reactor to destroy the economic , defense and political systems in superpower countries.
Responding world nuclear terrorism issues, President Barack Obama was held a Nuclear Security Summit and welcomed the leaders of 47 nations to Washington DC on April 13th and 14th 2010, with the goal of securing all vulnerable nuclear materials around the world within four years. Countries that attended this conference must protect their secure radioactive material by making details plan work and exploring ways to strengthen cooperation in the peaceful uses of atomic energy, including development of Ukrainian nuclear research capabilities and efforts to diversify Ukraine's nuclear power industry's fuel supply, in accordance with an existing agreement between Ukraine and the United States.
North Korea and Iran, two countries which have disputed nuclear ambitions, was not invited to a summit in Washington.  Both countries viewed the U.S. as a violator of nuclear non-proliferation treaty. They believed  Iran was using its nuclear program to produce weapons. It caused that Iran has not provided the IAEA with the cooperation necessary for the agency to verify that the nuclear material in Iran’s possession is being used for peaceful purposes.
If this conference was made to discuss about how to maintain security and stability of the economic, defense and political of countries in the world, I think that all countries should be invited in this conference without exception. The problems of the countries considered nuclear use against regulations also can be resolved in this forum. The invitations that impressed picking only few countries can triggered clashes, mainly the countries which have disputed nuclear ambitions.
Considered nuclear as a weapons materials will never settle the problem. We also must observe from the right sight. During the time fossil fuels  becomes a source of energy and it is known today that these cause various problems involving the environment we live on. The use of fossil fuels are always increasing every year, but no one can guarantee that it would be left in the next 100 years, no one knows when the availability of fossil fuels will be exhausted. Nuclear is an  alternative that can answer that problems. Nuclear energy is a resource that has enormous power. It has had a great impact worldwide. Now it's one of the growing electricity source, and also one of the most research by science.
Apart from its use as a weapon of war, particularly nuclear power radioactive materials have been used widely in various fields. Those areas include the field of energy, medicine, agriculture, industry, farms, and many others which can improve human welfare. And now I think its time to reduce or even eliminate our phobias about the dangers of nuclear reactions and consider that if we use it wisely, we can get more benefit exactly. We believed that scientists can solve the problem of waste generated from nuclear reactions using more advanced technology and also some guidance from highly competent person in their levels.
